Huawei Smartphones to Land in Seoul..

A Chinese smartphone maker Huawei will start selling its smartphones in Korea from next week. Huawei will sell its smartphones through Medialog, a subsidiary of LG U+.Huawei will be the first Chinese smartphone maker to sell its products in Korea.

Samsung Securities said on September 22 that Samsung Electronics' third-quarter operating profit would fall short of 4.7 trillion won and downgraded per share target price to 1.65 million won from 1.80 million won.

LG Electronics to Release Wine Smart Phone

LG Electronics is set to release Wine Smart, a smartphone with a mobile messenger KakaoTalk-dedicated button, first among smartphones.

6.       South Korea‘s global competitiveness ranking fell by four notches this year at IMD report as government and business efficiency received lower points than the previous year. It is the first time in four years that Korea’s ranking fell. What do you think about Korea’s competitiveness?

In many areasSouth Korea continues to go from strength to strength. For example Real GDP per capita grew by 2.5% the 13th highest in the world and an extraordinary feat for a developed nation; andLong-term Unemployment is virtually non-existent (#1). The emphasis on science and math in schools is impressive (#4), as is total expenditure on research (#1). However a lack of innovation (#28) entrepreneurship (#47) stifles the efficiency of SMEs (#55) – the drivers of economic growth. This is partly a cultural phenomenon but is also a result of government policy.

Hyundai Group's Purchase of KEPCO Site to Have Limited Impact on Its Finances

The consortium of Hyundai Motor, Kia Motors, and Hyundai Mobis was finally selected as the successful bidder to acquire the former Korea Electric Power Corp. headquarters site in Seoul's Gangnam. As the consortium decided to pay 10.55 trillion won for the property, more than three times of the appraisal value last year.
