MITSUI TO SELL STAKE IN BRAZIL-BASED BIOETHANOL JV TO DOW..




Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Tokyo; www.mitsui.com) has reached an agreement to sell its entire stake in its Brazil-based associated company, Santa Vitória Açúcar e Álcool Ltda (SVAA), to The Dow Chemical Company (Midland, Mich.;www.dow.com) for approximately $200 million.

SHELL has cancelled its Carmon Creek oil sands project in western Canada due in part to a shortage in pipeline capacity.

The oil giant says the decision to halt construction of the 80,000 bbl/d project will cost US$2bn in writedown charges and will remove 418m bbl of bitumen from its reserves list.
